On 20 January 2010 the Viet Nam Association of HIV/AIDS Control released a Decision establishing the Centre of Research and Community Help in HIV/AIDS Control. The Centre sits under the VAAC is established in order to improve the capacity and efficiency of the activities of the VAAC. On June, 02, 2010, in Ha Noi, the Centre had an opening ceremony attended by representatives from VAAC and several domestic and international agencies and organizations working on HIV/AID.
The Center for Research and Community Help in HIV/AIDS is a non-governmental organization operating with the goal of community service in the field of HIV/AIDS control.
The center has the following functions:
• Conducting scientific research, organizing conferences and seminars about methods and models of management and care of HIV/AIDS people and mitigation damage;
• Providing information and communication on HIV/AIDS, counseling duties content, issues related to prevention and harm reduction of HIV/AIDS;
• Conducting international cooperation on scientific research school and supporting community support in the field of HIV/AIDS and reducing harm...
• Other duties as assigned by VAAC.
The Centre operates, have legal status. The Centre’s head office is in Hanoi and it has its legal status and operates under the Law on Science and Technology.
The Centre is the first professional organization that has been established to conduct scientific research, consulting, training and support for the community in the prevention and mitigation of harm from the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
