04:10' PM - Wednesday, 24/02/2010 | | On January 12, 2009, at Viet Duc high school in Ha noi, the Ministry of Education and Training joined forces with Ha Noi Department of Education and Training and UN organisations in Viet Nam to hold a meeting in response to the National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control in 2009.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training, Ha Noi Department of Education and Training, the central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Ministry of Health and leaders of more than 40 Ha Noi – based high schools and thousands of teachers and pupils from Viet Duc high school.
Speaking at the meeting, Nguyen Hai Long, the Deputy Chief of the Education and Training Ministry Office stressed the danger of the HIV epidemic and especially for the youth. However, he said that although HIV epidemic is extremely dangerous, the youth themselves could prevent HIV infection by equipping themselves with knowledge on HIV and by practicing safe behaviour.
Mr Nguyen Huu Hieu, the Vice Director of Ha Noi Department of Education and Traning and the Chief of the Steering Board for AIDS, Drug, and Prostitutes Prevention of Ha Noi Education Branch committed to continue to promote activities for HIV/AIDS prevention and control in the education system in order to that young people in Ha noi could not only protect themselves from HIV infection but also positively contribute more widely to the cause of HIV/AIDS prevention and control.
